When I try, I get errors regarding the configuration files. While I would expect that when running from read-only media, that it would be impossible to save new settings, I would also expect to be able to start with previously saved settings, that were copied to the read-only media when it was created. It would be nice if saving settings at shutdown would then also suppress errors about not being able to write to the files, possible replacing it with a single dialog “Can’t save configuration files”… or, with a new setting “run from read-only media”, no attempt to even save such configuration files.

Is there some technique I have missed that provides such behavior?
