<p dir="auto">I assume I know what’s going on.<br />
You start npp as elevated process (as seen by Admin mode : ON) but, I assume,<br />
explorer was start with normal privileges. When you now, drag a file from explorer<br />
to npp you get that kind of behaviour as windows doesn’t  allow it.<br />
In general, a process with lower privilege cannot drag something to a process with higher privileges. So, solution would be either to start explorer as admin as well or npp with normal privileges.</p>

<p dir="auto">I’ve created the issue <a href="https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/issues/1431" rel="nofollow ugc">#1431</a> with this possible bug and also with the debug info.</p>

I’m using npp 6.8.8 as well and I don’t have that behaviour.<br />
Can we get a debug info output? Goto <strong>?-&gt;Debug Info</strong></p>
