<![CDATA[New version of Plugin Manager for testing!]]>Hi,

There’s a new version of plugin manager available for testing - v1.4.1

I’d be really grateful if you could test this version before we update the world :)

Changes:

  • New plugin list hosting (no longer sourceforge)
  • Plugin list download now via HTTPS
  • Plugin list will automatically update from admin system every 2 weeks
  • Option to use “bleeding edge” plugin list - only a few minutes behind the admin system
  • General improvements around installation, security

The “bleeding edge” list isn’t actually activated yet, and we’re not on our final host (expecting to sign the sponsorship contract within the next few days).

The main change is the location of the plugin list - this is now on our own servers (thanks to sponsorship), so we can automate the plugin list update. This has been a looooong time coming, and I know it is annoying for plugin authors when the list doesn’t get published, which is why we’re automating it. If you switch on the bleeding edge version (in the settings), you’ll get pretty much exactly what is in the admin system - there’s just a few minutes delay. It also means people can try out a beta version of your plugin. We’ll publish the current status of the list every 2 weeks on Monday at 20:00 UTC. That means if you update the plugin list on a Sunday, and it happens to be the week of the update, the default list for everyone will include it after the Monday evening UTC. It’s now trivial to test your update to the plugin list works just by turning on the development list in the settings, so there should be no cases of broken installations being published (we can always publish again if something is really broken - just ping me).

The dynamic update for the development list will be enabled over the next few days. Please let me know if you have any issues!

This problem still remains, but now I know the reason why.

Steps how to recreate the problem:
Have two files open and move one file to “Other View”.
Open Plugin Manager and make an action that requires NPP to open a pop up to ask you for further action, e.g. restart.
You will not be able to confirm, deny or close that pop up.

I’m getting a error page starting with
“ErrorException [ Warning ]: PDO::__construct(): MySQL server has gone away” and next some PHP code.

Could you please have a look?

The file PluginManager.dll should be in the plugins folder.
Restart NPP and in the Plugins menu you should see “Plugin Manager”.

I’ve tried installing it, extracting it in the notepad++'s plugins folder, opening n++ and “import plugins” but it’s still not showing up under the plugins tab or anywhere for that matter.

The admin system seems to have a database connection leak on the new host (the code has changed a bit too) - I’ll try and fix it, but if you get “MySQL has gone away” feel free to ping me (probably twitter is fastest - @bruderstein), and i’ll bounce it.

NPP startup is noticeably faster without a lot of plugins installed.

I have some plugins that I use rarely, but I want to keep the files and configs I have stored on the HD without deleting the plugins from disk…

however, when I install them from plugin manager I get the message that the file cannot be validate.
I believe I added the correct hash from the web site… any suggestion on what is wrong and what i should do instead/

You’ll need to update the paths in the props file in order to build it. This is also being improved (chcg is doing an amazing job with the PRs) – if you can, wait a little bit until we’ve got the x64 stuff merged, it should be much easier to build then.

@bycn82-bbbb - the immediate improvement is the scheduled updates - every two weeks automatically. For the development list (selectable as an option in the settings), it’s only a few minutes behind. For the interface to update the plugins, that’s a work in progress.

I’ll fix the one reported issue with the sponsor link, then release. Thanks again for all your help.

Couldn’t test updates in this version but I did test them with 1.4.1 and npp 7.0 and they worked perfectly too.

    works as expected on ubuntu 16.04 (using wine)
