I would really like to finally get to the bottom of this.]]></title><description><![CDATA[<p dir="auto">Regular notepad can display Eastern languages using fonts like Arial, Lucia Console and Courier New but Notepad++ cannot.<br />
In Notepad++ I’m restricted to a small list of less common (and much less desirable) fonts (with exception to Tahoma).<br />
If I don’t want the backslash character to be replaced by the won character that list becomes even smaller.<br />
If I want a monospaced font without display glitches that leaves me with pretty much one font: NSimSun, which is a pretty unpleasant font (hard on the eyes &amp; brain, especially at font sizes below 16).<br />
And it gets worse:<br />
Sometimes, even NSimSun inexplicably stops displaying Eastern languages properly, even though the global font settings have not been changed and the encoding is still set to UTF-8</p>
<p dir="auto">Notepad Version: Many versions since I started using Notepad++ in 2010. Current version is 7.5.7<br />
OS: Windows XP Pro 32-bit</p>
