<p dir="auto">I don’t know if this is the correct place to suggest it but, in any case, perhaps Notepad++ could be updated to automatically open the find window and inject the search string to make the whole thing more intuitive.</p>

It’s a downside, you have to have that window open when doing this.</p>

<p dir="auto">Yes, record your counting action as a macro, give it a name, and it will appear on the Macro menu for future use.</p>
