After hitting cancel, the github profile was associated here and now I can login on this website.

This is a little weird.

Trying to use login via my Github account, but got an error,
This site can’t be reached
(see output in PS!).
Anyway, got an email from github:

...
A third-party OAuth application (Notepad++ Community) with user:email scopes was recently authorized to access your account.
...

The link was already made even though the Auth site couldn’t be reached. Revoked
Notepad++ Community
access from my github account. I was logged in, but I deleted my account since I had revoked access to my github.
Using my google account to login worked but after ~1 hour and a half, I’m still waiting for an email confirmation?!!!

PS! Tried again, through my
Profile
to change “Single Sign-on Services” association from Google to Github.
Still got the message (Note! XXX… replaces possible privacy revealing tokens. And replaced ‘https’ with ‘h-tps’ because of spam warning):

This site can’t be reached
The web page at h_tps://community.notepadplus-plus.org/auth/github/callback?
code=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX&state=XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

Again,- had to revoke
Notepad++ Community
access from my github.

If I understand your description of the sequence of events, you had already approved login-with-github but didn’t approve email; since the login-with-github approval is the only approval needed to create the account, that’s why it created the account. If you don’t actually want the account, then delete your account.

I am also confused that you are complaining about the account being created, and yet you are using the account to participate in other discussion here. If you had been able to cancel your account creation at the point you described, you would not have been able to start that larger caret conversation; if you delete your account, you will no longer be able to participate in that discussion.

If you don’t want to receive emails, just go to your Settings and turn off any of the email notifications or digest subscriptions. If you’re really paranoid about not receiving emails, go to your Profile and Edit Email, and delete the value. But the forum only emails if you specifically ask it to in your settings.
