file type association
-
Hi,
everytime I have to deal with a Windows installation which hasn’t Notepad++ installed yet, I do change this of course ;-) Thanks for this nice piece of software.
But there is one usability issue which I would like to be changed - if possible. To set the file associations you have to select first one of the extension groups after that you can select one file extension and then finally you have to use the arrow button to add it to the registered extensions. Doing it for many file extension makes this process quit cumbersome moving the mouse back and forth (using the keyboard only is also not really better way to do it).
Therefore it would be nice to have the possibility to select more than one extension at once and add them and/or add the possibility to add a file extension with just a double click. This would it make much easier… at least in my opinion.
What do you think? It this functionality possible to add?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I had a similar issue with Settings > Style Configurator. The problem was solved when I stumbled upon using Administrator Permission. -
@Phil-W.-Lowder the above post was intended for - Windows 10 and preference clearing.
My apologies to all. -
Another issue: You absolutely must run Notepad++ as Administrator to make file associations work. While it would technically be possible to register associations for the current user only, which does not require more privileges, Notepad++ does not seem to make use of this. Instead, the associations silently fail if added as normal user.
Notepad++ is already able to detect whether it’s run with Administrator privileges (look at the title bar). So it should either lock down these settings (and offer restarting as Admin) or allow setting per-user associations correctly.
It took me a web search to figure that out. When documentation does not exist, the product itself must be intuitive instead.
