Please give more options for file association

It would be very helpful to be able to at least keep the name of the existing file type when associating it with Notepad++. I want all of my .pl files to open with Notepad++, but I don’t want them identified as “Notepad++ Document” in Windows Explorer. Now I have no way to sort .txt files and .pl files into separate groups in Windows Explorer.

what do you mean by

the type of file keeps the same, regardless if associated by npp or not.
