Publish NP++ in the Windows Store

It would be really helpful to publish the app in the Windows Store, so that i can more easy find, install, uninstall and update my app. To have all my apps downloaded from the same place is also very helpful! You can even do as Paint.NET has done and put a small price tag on it. Many people would still buy it to support the developers. (Including me). I guess the only problem is plugin-support, but Paint.NET has somehow managed to work it out.

Needs probably something like https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/news/releasenotes/vs2017-relnotes#WAPPtemplate to repackage the binary for the windows store.

I know it’s personal preference but I have never ever used the Windows store. And likely never will. Aren’t the store apps watered down apps of ‘real’ programs?
Maybe I should open the store and have a look at it. -
@decoderman Many people think the Store is just for watered down apps. But I can easily list a couple of powerful apps:
- Spotify
- Photoshop Elements 15
- MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Plus
- MAGIX Music Make Plus
- Drawboard PDF
- Paint.NET
- Krita
- Inkscape
- Telegram
- VideoPad
- Complete Anatomy
- Photoscape X
- Trello
- CrystalDiskMark 5
- Newton Mail
This is just the apps i could come up with, but there are more. I think it is really nice to have all my apps centralized to one Store. Auto-updates, more options with the Windows API, easily searchable and so on.

Having had a cursory look at the Store and seeing that it’s missing so many essential apps I use that I wont bother again opening it.
Again, this is my personal opinion. And I doubt we’ll ever see NPP in the store. Much less as a paid app. -
@decoderman Totally understandable. For me on the other hand, it has all the neccessary software except python and npp. And it would be nice to actually contribute to making the Store viable to more people.

More and more I dislike downloading apps from outside the Microsoft Store.
Reasons for me to download from the store only:- Files are checked for malware and viruses (remember ccleaner?)
- App run on Windows10 isolated
- I’m more willing to pay the app via the store

I sure do. Do you remember when how-to-geek wrote an article called “The Windows Store is a Cesspool of Scams — Why Doesn’t Microsoft Care?” a few years ago?
They may have cleaned up the store since then, but according to a more recent article on how-to-geek titled “Why (Most) Desktop Apps Aren’t Available in the Windows Store”; you have to continue to provide a separate installer for W7 if you want to support it, not all applications are easily sandboxed, and MS takes 30% of store sales.
I’m not sure I see the point of doing extra work to legitimize and support Microsoft’s attempt to compete with Steam and what is probably their first step towards dictating what can and can’t be installed on your computer.

For me what I like the store for, are three things. Easy to install, remove, and update. I no need to worry about registry issues, and leftover files.
I care less about the UWP interface per se. It is software management that I care about.
I am also willing to pay for NPP in the store.
