    I have a huge file txt 402 MB - Line Number 5846865. When I’m trying to sort it using Notepad++/TextFX it returns error: This tool is not compatible with binary text. Please select text without [NUL] characters…

    Thank you .

      @Christie-Mobley

      Sorry but what do you want us to do?
      Giving an advise how to sort binary data?
      Or find a way to remove the NUL chars so that you are able to do the sort with textfx?
      Or something else?

      Cheers
      Claudia

        Hopefully Notepad can improve TextFX sorting of Chinese UTF-8 UTF-16 UTF-16 text files.

        Thank you

          @Christie-Mobley

          afaik, TextFX is not maintained by npp developers and the original author hasn’t been
          updated since nearly 10 years or so, so I don’t think that you do get any updates on it.

          What about using the npp native functions? Menu Edit->Line operations.
          Don’t these work?

          Cheers
          Claudia

              @Christie-Mobley

              oopps - looks like ~6 million lines (or mabye 420 megabytes) is a little but to much.
              Could you give it a try with a smaller file?
              Maybe even checkout if it is sorting correctly with just a few lines of your unicode strings.

              Cheers
              Claudia

                If I split the big file into two small files then the Line works very well. Hope one day that Notepad early days improve better in the future. Thank Cheers.
