      Hello all!
Did you noticed this bug in notepad 7.8.7?
If you try to find and replace a word in a selection of few lines, the selection is “deselected” and notepad is trying to find the word somewhere else…

          It isn’t a bug.

When you are using the “interactive” search (Find Next button) or search+replace (Replace button) features of Notepad++, it automatically selects text after your action to show you where your next match is (thus “deselecting” a selection you had).

So…you can’t expect a selection you’ve made to remain active while you are doing this type of search/replace.

If you are interested in finding or replacing only in a selection you’ve made, your options are to tick the In selection checkbox after you’ve made your selection, and then pressing either of these buttons:

          • Replace All (on the Replace tab)
          • Find All in Current Document (on the Find tab)

For any future readers of this thread, @rinku-singh 's answer has absolutely nothing to do with what @pascal-scalpa wrote about.
