    When a I do a find on a document for a text pattern, the dialog flashes 3x. Is there a way to reduce this flashing to maybe 1? I get enough things flashing on my desktop.

      @jringbox ,

      This is documented behavior: if you go to the official documents at https://npp-user-manual.org/docs/searching/ and look for the text “flash” on that page, it explains the circumstances of the flash.

      If you want an option to change that behavior, you will have to make an official feature request, as described by this FAQ entry

        @jringbox said in Find Dialog Flash Count:

        the dialog flashes 3x.

        Just to bring it here: Flashing can occur on an unsuccessful search or a search where the start/end of the file gets passed during the search (i.e., wrap-around).

        I never thought about it before, but maybe it does seem a bit “heavy” to flash 3 times.

        Thanks for pointing that out. :-(
        Now I can’t unsee the heaviness it when it happens. :-)

          @Alan-Kilborn ,

          <tongue style=“cheek: in; firmly: 1”>But why would anyone search for things that aren’t there? And why would you start searching from the middle instead of the beginning? </tongue>
