Notepad++ v8.1.2 Release is available here:

- Make Notepad++ dark mode colors customizable: add 6 more color tone choices. (Implement #10128 )

- Add command line flag -udl=“UDL name” to open a file by applying an existent UDL via its name. (Implement #10102 )
- Use always current file directory in File Rename dialog. (Fix #10095 )
- Fix “Remember last used directory” unexpected behaviour. (Fix #10115 )
- Fix corrupted encoding text on status bar if shortcut assigned to encode command. (Fix #10146 )
- Add a Save all confirm dialog. (Fix #2124 , #9931 )
- Improve JavaScript auto-completion. (Fix #9858 )

Just upgraded to v8.1.2 and I believe it has broken the toggles for sync scrolling… leaving them always synced and unable to be turned off. The same behaviour is noted whether I use the toolbar icons, or the menu option to atyempt to turn off syncing the scrolling. My brother is a first-time user and he also reported the same issue to me, so it appears to apply to both fresh-installs and upgrades alike.
I was using it with Compare plugin in case this makes a difference.

Weirdly, it appears to be working here now too. Nothing changed here except for closing Notepad++ earlier, and then just re-opened it now! (I was re-opening it with a view to trying it without Compare installed, But it was already working for me now before I managed to remove Compare plugin.). Therefore assume it is sorted… but I’ll report back of I see any repeat, or I narrow it down further.

I found a regression introduced in V8.0.
Mark all feature is no longer configurable through “find dialog settings”. It was wery convenient to configure it through “find dialod settings”, in a same way like smart highlighting.

I think in my following the issues I saw that it was a design decision to do it the way it was changed. Of course this is not saying it can’t be changed again.

Instead of vague complaining, please give concrete examples of how the behavior has changed, and why you think it worked better before.

Still a problem with losing some settings if installing with elevated user rights for a limited user.
At least open files in session and histroy of opened files is lost.This worked until 7.9.5 very clean.

Save of existing file works, but saving a new file or Save As of any file is unresponsive once you get to the Save dialogue box. Can’t enter a file name or get Save button to work. -
@David-Sperduto Running Vista Home Premium SP2 if that’s relevant.

@David-Sperduto I’m afraid fixes for bugs that are specific to Windows Vista won’t be accepted. Please refer to this page about supported versions: https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/blob/master/SUPPORTED_SYSTEM.md
I’d recommend you to use an older version of Notepad++. -

@mere-human It’s a critical issue. Does Vista’s runtime system not support at all our new Save dialog? Or there’s a way (not restoring the old system) to fix it?

I have Vista Enterprise in a VM and tested Save As. As @David-Sperduto wrote, I was not able to input a new filename, the dialog just hangs. Same with Save a copy as.
