Disable auto-updater?

I have to use version 7.8 as it is only compatible with Wine and apparently you won’t fix it, which is understandable - but now I tried to use my old 7.8 version and it seems to have auto updated to the latest 8.2.1 which is not acceptable - So I want to know how can I disable this check and/or what domain do you use to check if the version is compatible so I can block it from “phoning home” ?
