Suggestion: better autosave/backup system

When I have been using N++ for about a year and a half, already about 4-5 times I lost all my notes in all tabs… Sometimes just after a reboot and restarting N++ it is empty… and in the folder with the Autosave file it is also empty… sometimes it happens when Windows restarts itself during an update and sometimes it happens for no particular reason… I don’t save each tab in a separate file, this is supposed to be a multitasking notepad and I don’t want to have to worry and think about saving every few minutes each tab to separate files when I add something to one of them! Saving the whole session also does NOTHING because after loading it the tabs are empty, no content is saved!!! This and the spontaneous deletion of notes are the 2 biggest shortcomings of N++, it’s a wonder that after thousands of improvements, still such primitive things happen :( So in order to prevent data loss when e.g. a restart occurs at the moment when N++ is writing every 7 seconds to its backup folder, I propose that n+ instead of one file creates 2 independent files which will be written every 7 seconds alternately, once one and once the other… this will prevent loss of all data when one file goes bad during a reboot, BSOD etc…
second improvement would be to save the whole session together with the content of all tabs(some people probably have 50 tabs in n++) and then you can with one keyboard shortcut save the whole e.g. research paper, in one place

Don’t confuse the “session snapshot with periodic backup” and the “AutoSave plugin”. The two are different.
Older versions of the builtin “session snapshot with periodic backup” have had problems, but there have been many improvements over the years; the reboot/restart causing empty files doesn’t happen nearly as often as it used to; since you don’t say what version you are using, I am going to assume that you have not been upgrading, and that you’ve got an ancient version. (Also, the only times that I remember that a reboot caused such problems in other reports was catastrophic-style reboots, where there were blue-screen or other “windows itself crashed”… if that’s happening frequently to you, you have a more pervasive problem than just finding out that if windows crashes while an application is trying to write its backup file, that backup file might be corrupted.)
If you have the AutoSave plugin installed and properly configured, I cannot remember hearing of it not saving correctlty. You might want to check out the FAQ which describes Periodic Backup vs AutoSave Plugin, and make sure that you have things set up in a way that’s sufficient for you to take charge of your data integrity.
