Make Apps, not war...

Hello! I am absolutely not interested in politics. What is the difference between this application and previous adequate versions (before the boycott of Beijing)? After installation, will there be a banner with the flag of Ukraine inside, or will my personal data be transferred to the special services of this country?

@miku666 ,
I am absolutely not interested in politics.
The developer expresses the freedom of speech afforded him in his country, and he exercises that right by sometimes adding politically-motivated taglines or names for the various versions he releases. However, that political speech has never yet affected the primary content of the application itself (what the application actually does). The politically-labeled releases are just normal development releases in everything but that tagline.
will my personal data be transferred to the special services of this country
The developer has expressed no interest in collecting or distributing your data (and since he lives in a nation covered by EU GDPR, he probably wants nothing to do with the hassle of your data), and from my understanding of what I’ve seen, he is not sending it to the “special services” of “this” or any other country – you can check that in the codebase yourself, if you don’t trust him or me.
What is the difference between this application and previous adequate versions
For every single release, the developer includes a list of release notes – both in the
change.log
file that is included with each release, and in the Announcement in this forum for each release; these notes are then replicated to the global Notepad++ Changes list on GitHub for easy searching of the entire history. In any version of that change list, you can see all the technical changes that were made to the application in that version – new features, bug fixes, and the like.And like any application, even if a previous version is “adequate”, there are improvements that can be made, whether bug fixes or feature additions or feature improvements; and like any actively-maintained application, they are making at least some of those improvements in every release. So while any one release may be “adequate” for your needs, a future release will hopefully be an improvement. (As with any software, even with millions of dollars of budget and a big brand name behind it – neither of which Notepad++ has – there are sometimes regressions when said software is updated; but the end goal is for continuous improvement, and I feel that Notepad++ has done a good job in making such improvements, even though there are occasional hiccups.)

That’s right, it’s just a tagline. It doesn’t reflect the actual changes, which are listed at the very bottom of the download page.
That being said, the download page contains a bunch of ads both at the top and over to the right.
If you are concerned about privacy then please be sure to click the correct download link, which appears underneath the cardboard-box icon. -
@jonathandl2 , Not in mine, with a Firefox browser and the Ad Block Plus installed. :)
