the weirdest bug?
-
This ultra-weird entry is for the curious among you. It is easy to work around (i.e. not an issue for me) - I thought you’d all be interested…
We have notepad++ v8.4.2 installed… don’t know if this applies to other versions…
If you open a file (or create new - doesn’t seem to matter), then enter following text:
munge_group_name
…then double click the text, you’ll get an exception:
An exception occurred due to a plugin: jN.dll
Exception reason: Access violationThe only way out is to kill notepad++ and restart - then all is fine.
As I say, this is not a biggy (fixed by not typing that particular text!) - but may indicate a bug of some kind?
Cheers
Lorry

It’s not a bug in Notepad++. If you didn’t have the jN plugin installed, the error would not happen.
You should check to see if the jN plugin has a new version released to be compatible with Notepad++ v8.4.2 (you might have to go to their website, since it might not yet be in the Plugins Admin list). If not, report the bug to the jN developer(s), because they need to make their plugin compatible with the most recent versions of Notepad++.

@PeterJones Thanks for the quick response.
You’re absolutely right of course :-) - the message says it all - will take it up with the plugin writers.
Thanks

@PeterJones Thanks for the quick response.
You’re absolutely right of course :-) - the message says it all - will take it up with the plugin writers. They released v2.2.185.7 to make it compatible with Notepad++ v8.4 and newer, but that version wasn’t submitted to Plugins Admin until v8.4.4, so you will have to manually update the plugin from their website.
