"In selection" checkbox for replacing in selected lines
-
If more than one line is selected and I call Replace (Ctrl+H), it would be convenient if “In selection” was checked automatically.
I think it can be assumed that after selecting more than one line, the replacement should happen only in this selection.
These are my experiences. Does someone agree?

Sometimes users want multi-line data to be auto-copied into the Find what box when Replace (Ctrl+h) is invoked. In fact, this is the easiest way to get a mult-line search string into the box.
So… I don’t think the presence of more than one line is necessarily a great predictor that someone wants to search only “in selection”.
How the software currently works is that if more than 1024 characters are selected when a “find” function is invoked, the In selection checkbox will be automatically checked. (User-manual REFERENCE to this behavior.)
But… it does seem a bit inconsistent and “at odds” that when enough text is selected to cause In selection to be auto-checked, that the selected data is also copied into the Find what box.

I created an official ISSUE for this oddness.
