Really NO Login possible into this forum with other social media account (e.g.Yahoo)?
-
As I had to recognize there seems to be no other way to login into this forum than with one of the 4 social media accounts mentioned at the login page.
What if I want to use my yahoo account (email) for that?
notepad-plus-plus.org is the one and only forum which does not allow yahoo emails for login.
Can this be changed?
Thank you

Try Signing In (or Up) using the 2nd icon (Github)
I share your regret. Since the debut of the web (1993) I signed up in thousands forums, always with my normal email address (which has been my yahoo.com address when yahoo.com was the best for email, news, groups, finance, etc, until they botched it around 1998), never through Facebook, Twitter, Google+, that I don’t like.
Now after stopped visiting Notepad++ Forum for a few years I came back and discovered that my old account is still there, only moved into Github (the 2nd of the 4 icons you mention), with my old password still recognized. I suggest you try with yours.

We should be able to use a traditional e-mail based login.
It’s ridiculous to require a social media account for this purpose.

indeed, considering recent big tech security and ‘terms of service’ developments, we need a regular login without those accounts. fortunately, github is currently an acceptable site to use… otherwise i would NOT be able to use notepad++ forums!
hopefully this will change one day, or at least if github becomes a big tech monster.,…

@eglacias ,
As it’s now owned by Microsoft in part or whole, that’s a distinct possiblity.
I’m not enamored of laughingly called social media either, but that is NPP’s option. I got a Google account with my ‘smart phone’, that I really didn’t use a lot until recently, NPP forums being one of them, and would not ever use any of the other mentioned social media sites. I have a Github account now, only because of NPP, so I guess I have two options, but I’m not fully entrenched in Github at this point either. It’s just to accomplish a few things and learn about it, but again, because of NPP. So, use what doesn’t make you cringe, but those are your options as far as these forums are concerned.
I suspect, that because it’s too easy for people to make unaccountable multiple email addresses that they chose to use that medium for registration. There are several malcontent users that do nothing but try to disrupt forums and it makes it easier to find and block them… like in Hackers as a connection to Dade was found and closed “Thank you for playing”. :)
