8.4.9 fails to detect a latest update 8.5

I have been trying at different times through Check Update option with 8.4.9. It kept telling no update available. But website says 8.5
So had to manually download 8.5 and install it over and above 8.4.9. Any bug in the version updater and/or its configurations?

Thank you @Michael-Vincent for the clarification. I understand due to a pending bug the version trigger is being withheld and scheduled for 8.5.1 release.

That said, if you’re not using the Windows context menu launchy-thingy (I don’t) I’ve been using 8.5 quite happily since the release candidate.
If you already have it installed and don’t care about the context menu bug referenced, keep using it and then upgrade again shortly to 8.5.1 to get that bug fix if you really want it.

It’s more of a “bad design choice” than a “bug”. But, poh-TAY-toe, poh-TAH-toe.
Interestingly, this context menu thing has created some of the most vehement Notepad++ negative comments I’ve seen since I started using N++. Someone actually went so far as to call it “the very definition of a piece of malware”. Yikes.

It’s OK, though, the Notepad++ author provided the refund form so that unsatisfied users could get back their cash paid for N++.
