    Recently updated from a few versions back, tabs are larger now... any way to revert the size of them?

      Question in the title pretty much, I recently updated from a few versions behind (v8.5.2) and I imminently noticed larger tabs that overlap and look bad, is there a way to revert this?

        @ImSpecial ,

        My guess is you had Settings > Preferences > General > Tab Bar > ☑ Reduce checkmarked before, and do not now.

          Nope, settings are the same between both, in fact with it unchecked, the text is now BOLD and look even worse in the newest version.

            Well, something is different in your setup. Maybe check your theme settings for the various font sizes.
            Because in fresh unzips of portable editions of Notepad++, v8.5.2, v8.5.6 (the “most recent” that ? > Update Notepad++ will show), and v8.5.7 (actually the most recent) all have exactly the same number of pixels by default.

              Not sure what to tell you, your v8.5.2 looks smaller to me, and only confirms something had changed that made the icons bigger and now with longer tabs, I went back to 8.4.8 too which was on my laptop and they are the same small tabs/icons.

                @PeterJones Look at the right edge of the left margin containing the line numbers compared to the position of the X that can close the leftmost tab in your screenshots of 8.5.2 and 8.5.6.

                The icons are larger in 8.5.6/8.5.7, and there appears to be an extra space between the text on the tabs and the close button.

                I’m honestly confused. You posted that tabs in all three versions have exactly the same number of pixels along with a screenshot that clearly demonstrates otherwise.

                  @ImSpecial ,

                  When you said “larger”, I thought you meant vertically bigger. I now see that each is a whole 8 pixels wider in the newer versions.

                    It looks like the icon within the tabs and the font used got larger between v8.5.3 and v8.5.4

                    The 8.5.4 release notes are silent on this unless it’s item 14 “Several GUI Enhancements”
