Hello, @terry-r and All,
I’m sorry, Terry, but the French recovered well in the second half and ended up winning !
It seems to me, even from a non-specialist like myself, that the New Zealanders weren’t playing at their best.
Let’s wait and see: the tournament has only just begun…

I somewhat agree, although almost half of the entire team (11 of 23) are debutantes (to a world cup).We also didn’t need to win to continue, so we have another chance.
But overall I did see some of all blacks flair.
Bon chance all blacks!

I suppose you will be disappointed that France lost to South Africa by a single point. And as for the All Blacks vs Ireland match, that was a thriller. I think both teams played exceptionally well and it could’ve been either one to win until the very last second.
I think the pundits are now voting for either All Blacks or South Africa to win the final, with South Africa slight favourites.

Hello, @terry-r,
The All Blacks were really solid and dominated the whole match ! What can we say about Will Jordan’s try in the 73rd minute ?
Brilliant
!Of course, I’m still disappointed that France lost, by just one point, to South Africa… but that’s the game!

Hi, @terry-r,
Terry, the die is cast. And just for 1 point! There were some fine moves, but the South Africans were the stronger side. I can only imagine how sad you must feel !
Take heart !

For my country, there now seems to be a “point the finger” approach to the referees and TMO for denying us the win. Having seen the replay of both yellow cards and later knowing only 1 was upgraded to red (thus NZ played most of the match with 14 players) when it seemed both were equally “bad” was hard to take.
For me personally I think I would agree that the South African team were the better team; they played their game and we were forced to match it. There were a couple of occasions where the All Blacks started to shine but those were quickly cut down by the opposition.
We didn’t seem to play at the same intensity as when we played Ireland. Of course having the final score so close was a bitter blow, as we all thought of what might have been had the umpiring been a bit less contentious.
I hope France (as a country) reaped the rewards of hosting the matches.
c’est la vie

Well @guy038 , it seems the Rugby World Cup is still being played (out) in the public arena.
The disallowed All Blacks try (by Aaron Smith) was due to the TMO looking back 4 phases, legally they are only allowed to look back 2 phases.
I really do wonder though about the game. I mean it is ONLY a game, yet countries hopes are dashed by invalid rulings.
Where to next? Using AI?

@Terry-R said in Rugby World Cup:
Using AI
Flipping coins should be better than using AI*. An AI’s output or results is a (hopefully) best case averaging and fitting of a prompt string with the existing blend of unknown data already stored in the AI. The AI stirs and regurgitates. Flipping coins is both understandable to the lay person, neutral, and can result in outcomes outside of an AI’s averaging and data fitting algorithms.
* Look into the precession affect when a coin is flipped. Tossed coins tend to land same side up! :-)
