      Recent updates for Notepad ++ which I do automatically have given trouble loading SRT subtitle format text. This did not used to be the case and it has started acting up recently… just showing the throbber forever.

      Which older version of Notepad++ should I download and where is it?

      thanks. Thsi is the only good text reader I have for SRTs not in a Subtitle Edit program.

        @lon-from-appleton Recent, like several months ago? As I suspect this open bug

        Loading/Pasting included string causes program to hang #13916

        which can make Notepad++ unresponsive.

        SRT is a plain text file so I am guessing it has something resembling a URL in it.

        If you try bug.txt posted in the OP issue, then Notepad++ does not recover, so may need to force close.

        Go to Preferences -> Cloud & Link -> Clickable Link Settings and uncheck the enable checkbox, then you can open bug.txt with no issue that I have experienced. You just will not have clickable links.

          @lon-from-appleton I just tested Trolls.Band.Together.2023.SLOSubs.WEBRip.XviD-metalcamp.srt from opensubtitles.org without problem.

            One particular .srt file, or all .srt files?

            If all .srt files, as an experiment, if you rename one of the files to have .txt instead of .srt as the file extension, can Notepad++ open it?

            Also, please copy and post the output from Debug Info… on the menu opened from the question mark at the right of the Notepad++ main menu.
