Toolbar spacing has changed in latest version?
-
I have two 1920x1080 computers. The one running Notepad++ v8.6.5 (64-bit) has a completely full toolbar. (I script a lot of things and add them as buttons.) Unfortunately, my other computer appears to have updated to 8.6.9 (64-bit), and its toolbar has about 20 buttons that spill into a second row.
The toolbar Settings are identical, so it looks like additional whitespace was added between buttons in the new toolbar?
Is there a way to revert to the old toolbar layout in 8.6.9?
I’m sure someone thought this was an improvement, but in my case, it’s not. :)

Are you using the Customize Toolbar plugin? If so, it gets confused by the new pulldown arrow attached to the Show All Characters

toolbar button.Technically, the “problem” is with the plugin, but since it was a change in the App that made that plugin not work correctly, there is an issue#15440 on the main App, though it’s doubtful whether the developer will agree that he should try to fix it.
However, there is a workaround using @ArkadiuszMichalski’s suggestion here which says to use a custom icon for Show All Characters instead of the builtin icon; this suggestion is fleshed out in my example here, which shows the Customize Toolbar config needed (along with explaining where you can get the appropriate icons for CT to use)

@PeterJones You answer was 100% correct. Thank you! I do use Customize Toolbar, and by simply removing the Show All Characters button, my previous layout has returned.
When I have a minute, I’ll put it back with a custom icon. Thanks for that suggestion too.
