      When I download the last release my preferences were changed to the default. PLEASE prevent that from happening in the future.

        I’ve upgraded several times over the years (even installed v6.8.3 today) and have never had an issue. Are you sure you didn’t install it differently this time?

          Yes. I have updated several times also. I did the automatic download and install this time. I usually do a manual install. Maybe that was the difference. Don’t know. It is not too big of a deal. I dislike having Notepad++ try to think ahead for me. When I type in { or ( I want to manually type in } or ) not Notepad++ doing for me. Just my preference. Also the type size got smaller. Old age - need larger type! LOL

            You can disable N++ from inserting the closing parenthesis and brackets. And easy increase the font size.
