      Hello,

      Regular expression e.g. (.*HASH reference.*\n|.*subroutine entry.*\n) for Find/Replace.

It will find/replace correct (matched) lines in a file which contains them.

However, if I apply the same RegEx on a file with no actual matches, Notepad++ will select entire file (all lines) as a match.

How can this be, is this simply the case of bad regex? I don’t see it. Please explain.

Doesn’t seem to have that problem for me. Couple suggestions you might try, replace .* in your regex with .*? and \n with \R and see if that helps at all.
