How to edit the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file?

I am looking for a 64 bit version, because the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder is hidden from the 32 bit programs (I would like to edit the hosts file). I can do it with 64 bit version of other editors, but I would like to use a single notepad replacement for everything. I have seen a previous topic about the 64 bit version of Notepad++, but the topic is locked, I could not add this point of view there.

@Yozi-GP, when it comes to file system redirection there are two possible ways to do this, afaik.
a) either use sysnative alias to force a program to open the file or
b) create a link.The strange thing about your issue is, that, afaik, the hosts is one of a couple of files which shouldn’t be affected by redirection.

@Claudia-Frank, thanks for the tip, it helped! The hosts file is really available in the folder C:\Windows\Sysnative\drivers\etc for 32 bit programs.

Depending on your OS version (not bit) you can open any file in NotePad++, I just browse out to C:\Windows\System32\drivers then in the address bar add this\etc and the host file is shown. no need for links or items.
I am on Windows 10 64bit and this also worked on 8/8.1 and 7 all 64bit.

I agree if it is the hosts file like I said earlier. This file has been excluded from fs redirection but
if you want to open for example gmreadme.txt located under C:\Windows\System32\drivers
then it won’t work.Cheers
