Sometimes opens with lots of previously closed files

Sometimes when I open Notepad it opens many saved and open files that were not there last time I closed it.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

the first thing which confuses me is the version you posted as the current release is 6.9 !?
Do you have exclusive access to this program or in other words is it possible that the configuration
gets shared? Something like you run this on a terminal server with other users or from a network share ?Cheers

Well if I check the version it says: Notepad++ v6 .7.9.2
Sorry if I gave the build and not the version.

I work on a standalone computer and nobody else is involved with it. -
Didn’t find any reported issue like the one you’ve described.
Next time this happens, can you check the content of session.xml?
This is the file which is used to “remember” about the file which needs to be opened on startup.Cheers

It doesn’t happen every time but just every few days but it’s a little pain.

It just did it again but can’t find the session.xml.
Where is it located, Windows 10 ?

If this is the content of your session.xml, than something terrible happened as this should be the content of config.xml.
