How to make a full backup of npp settings?
-
Hello. I want to backup all my notepad++ settings (plugins, settings e.t.c), so i could make a full restore on another computer and get 100% of my previous build. Which files should i copy?
-
Try the hidden folder (Win10) c:[users][yourusername]\ AppData\Roaming\Notepad++ .
-
Just copy c:[users][yourusername]\ AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\backup folder files from one computer to another at same path but there should be npp installed.
-
No, the backup folder holds the edited files - not the xml files containing the settings and not the plugins at all.
Depending on how npp was installed either copy folder and files under %APPDATA%\Notepad++
or under the INSTALL_DIRECTORY\Notepad++.Cheers

Not any more, it seems. As of 7.6, now there’s stuff saved under the AppData\Local\Notepad++ folder. FYI.

Well, too bad @Claudia-Frank couldn’t read the future in answering the question. :-D

I’m in occasional email contact with her. She is fine but has decided to move on to using a different text editor and hence is no longer participating in the Notepad++ Community forum discussions.

i’m relieved now, thanks for the info 👍
