Issue with saving a file
-
Is anyone else having this issue?
This morning, I upgraded to v7 (32-bit, portable edition). Now, however, whenever I try to “save” or “save all,” neither the toolbar icon nor the items in the FILE menu will work. Re the toolbar icon, it depresses when I click it, but the document doesn’t save.
If I do a “save as,” it will save, though. Even if I simply overwrite the existing file.
This is happening on both a Windows 7 and Window 10 machine.

I’m observing exactly the same behavior as Michael (Windows 7 x64 here, but using the 32 bit version of Notepad++).

Can you post your debug info located under the
?
menu? -
Here you go. It is identical to the one for v6.9.2 (which didn’t have the issue), except for the first two lines. FYI–I have also uninstalled the “ScrollPastEOFUni.dll” plugin (since NPP v7 has this functionality built in now), but the issue remains.

I finally got mine to work. Instead of using the contents of the v7 portable ZIP file to overwrite what was in the NPP folder on my PC, I instead unzipped the portable ZIP file into a fresh folder and manually reinstalled all my plugins and redid all my settings. I am now able to save as usual.
With prior updates (within the v6 branch), I would simply unzip the portable ZIP file over what was already on my PC (except for the shortcuts.xml file–that, I would keep the file I already had). This would update NPP but retain all my plugins and settings.
Is there some other way I should be updating the portable version when new releases come out, so I don’t have to manually redo all my plugins and settings each time?

Good catch, Michael. Uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch solved the problem for me, too.

Had the same problem, thanks for posting.
I have un-installed and re-installed. Although the plugin folder etc was still there I can now open a file and save after changes. -
Still having the same problem here. I narrowed it down to the config.xml file - deleting that fixed it so that I could save again.
