Just a general heads up Notepad++ works perfectly fine on Ubuntu 16.04 (Linux) using Wine.

Personally very happy I can run Notepad++ on Linux and would be very happy to see a native installation for Linux one day.

      Regards,

There is an opensource clone of Notepad++ available.

Notepadqq should really change its name.
While it started as a notepad++ clone using scintilla, it moved to another layout framework focusing on javascript for plugins.
It will never be notepad++. It will never get ports of any of the Notepad++ plugins.
It may be an excellent product on its own but its name is just misleading now.
