.r file association messed up
-
In the previous version of npp it was file. Now my .r files (R statistics language) are automatically recognised as REBOL language. I can’t change the syntax highlight back to R language. Anyone knows a solution? Thanks.

Hey,
I’ve removed R key from REBOL section in the file ‘langs.xml’ (path: user\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\langs.xml )
Now It doesn’t mess anymore when I open .R file. -
You are right.
Line 301 by default is:
<Language name=“rebol” ext=" r reb" commentLine=“;” commentStart=“” commentEnd=“”>The messed up part is ext=" r reb". It should just say ext=“reb”
Change that, save the file and you are all set. -
Eduardo Marín solution works for me. Thanks!
Why Does it persist in the new versions of notepad ++? -
welcome to the notepad++ community, @Frederico-Faleiro
i’m sorry about that, but this issue has not been reported to the developers back then.
it has finally been reported to the devs 2 weeks ago from a pro in québec.
see here: https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/pull/5203the solución @Eduardo-Marín gave was a good find and he was the first with a solución as i recall, but only addressed to the user that asked for help and it has never been submitted to any developer, until lately.
as notepad++ is a private and open source project, it relies on other people helping out for free, and there’s also not even a single cent any of the devs get paid for the private lifetime hours they have to spend on creating and maintaining notepad++, and there is no money to hire people that test everything. please keep this in mind for all other open source applications as well.
if you take it positively: you found Eduardo’s solution and you solved it yourself ;-)
