Notepad++ 7.5.4 release

@donho Did (x64) get updated with the New Year’s party, just checked update, and it says no update available, and I’m on 7.5.3 (x64)?!

@Chip-Cooper, the auto-updates (or
? > Update Notepad++menu item) usually waits a week or two before admitting to a new version, to make sure there are no killer bugs, before it will admit to a new version. If you want the newest version before it’s available through the internal update, you just have to download the newest installer from the link above, and install it on top of your old version.edit: as seen on https://notepad-plus-plus.org/news/notepad-7.5.4-released.html, “Auto-updater will be triggered in few days if there’s no critical issue found.” (though “a few days” is generally 1-2wk, in my experience)

In my youth I was an incurable perfectionist; but getting married eventually all but killed that (probably how I’m still married). And now, in my later years (snicker) I’ve given up significantly on perfection… (sigh).
And yet… machines are still unforgiving. and, I often wonder what I’m still doing programming and trying to keep up with technology… (deep sigh)

Thanks for new version but I’m asking why did you remove very useful function in search window in new versions? I’ve reinstaled new version and install the old one 7.4.2, because i realy miss this function.

Just registered because I’m dying to get any news regarding the recently announced new updater system.
@donho announced that he’s not comfortable (to put it nicely ;)) with how @bruderstein integrated his employer’s advertisment.
So, is there at least a rough timeframe for us about a new plugin manager, straight from N++?

Starting from version 7.5.2 I have a problem with file status auto-detection.
A change is detected also if only access time change.
Works great until 7.51. -

It’s in progress. I cannot estimate the date of shipping this feature, but I guess I need one or 2 months more.

According to this github issue and this forum post it seems to only effect Windows XP systems. It seems once Notepad++ was moved to VS2015 is when the problem started to occur.

I found one bug (7.5.4 release). its in Language/define your language/ and there if i click to Export, it wants to open file… and also if i click to import, it enable me to save file. So these two buttons have interchangeabled functions or names. (sorry for my english)

Import and Export work fine for me. What localization are you using? Maybe the two got translated incorrectly.

Could be - since VS2015 don’t use the same runtime dll as VS2013’s ones.
However xp’s support has been dropped by Microsoft since long time, and I have no xp anymore, we will drop also the xp support. -
sorry for delay, I didn’t get the notification…
I was completly wrong, access time doesn’t matter in my problem (it changes after file status auto-detection).
I’m on Windows 7 / 10 and files on a debian machine, it’s something related to network samba shares, since I can’t reproduce with local files.
On network I reproduce in this way:
- open a file
- change and save it
- leave (blur) n++ window
- wait 10 seconds
- focus n++ window
- change alert shown
I’ll update this thread as soon I find more details.

Just for information, I’m strongly against dropping Windows XP support. Notepad++ is not Microsoft to do such bad things.
