Monitoring (tail -f) fails on big files

The feature works file on smallish log files (great!), but fails on big (>100k lines) files. Possibly not just “big” but (also) rapidly growing.
Symptoms:
- the tail is not monitored
- the tabs disappear
- the only way to get n++ functioning again is to kill the app using the X in the taskbar popup. The regular X (top right corner of window) doesn’t react.
