Notepad++ has stopped doing periodic file backups

I recently installed Notepad++ on a new PC and discovered that the periodic backup feature doesn’t seem to work. If I don’t explicitly save the file, it doesn’t get saved.
I set up my preferences exactly the same as on the older version of Notepad++ running on my other PC. Perhaps the latest version requires an additional setting that I haven’t yet discovered?

It seems to work for me, even though I don’t use this feature normally. What exactly is your setup? Saying that:

doesn’t help anyone trying to assist, as we don’t know what those settings are…
