[New Here] Gathering Info: Comparison of cached/open file to original

So I did a brief 5 minute dig to learn about file comparison in N++ and I wanted to pose a question since I couldn’t find anything quite matching my thoughts.
I collect old files in my work flow that are red (cached working copy is different, the original is missing, or it’s never been saved, etc)
Is anyone aware of a user friendly comparison solution in this circumstance? A way to see not just that there are differences in a cached copy, but to see what they are?
The only thing I’ve found is the Compare plugin which doesn’t have anything in it’s feature list that looks like it works with cached comparisons.
