Reset Default Viewer
-
Hi,
I’ve downloaded and been using Notepad++ 7.6.3 in Windows 10. I’ve been writing HTML and CSS. I don’t know how, but the default viewer (File/Open in Default Viewer) got changed from Mozilla Firefox to Notepad. How do I change it back? I could not find anything under settings on in a Google search. Also, if I want to see how a website looks in Chrome and Firefox, how do I do that?
Thank you,
Michelle Jensen

Welcome to the forum.
The default viewer/editor is a windows feature: if you click the WINDOWS start button, then type
Default app, you can select “choose a default app for each type of file”, and fix the association for HTML and CSS filetypes. To see how the local HTML renders in your browser while editing in Notepad++, you can see my first post in the “latest Version: Browser Export” thread for how to edit
shortcuts.xml. This will bring back the Run menu entries for Launch in Firefox, Launch in Chrome, etc.
