Tab size ... tab size ... now where can I find this setting among the hundreds ...

I wouldn’t boycott Notepad++ no matter what, but, on principle, the deeply-hidden TAB SIZE qualifies as sufficient reason.
Come on!!
Why should it take me 20 minutes and searching a forum in order to find that TAB SIZE can ONLY be set by visiting Settings > Preferences > (so far so good) > LANGUAGE (???) and then look in the least obvious place on the page–lower-right-hand corner.
Seriously, what does LANGUAGE have to do with it? SERIOUSLY. Is there an answer? Tell me, please!
A REASONABLE PLEA: Just stick TAB SIZE on the PREFERENCES page. Or add it to the MISC. screen.
Could I write a MACRO to accomplish this? I’ve never written one for Notepad++, and it’s time I learn, since I am SURE I could, but why should I have to?
As EVERYONE knows, TAB SIZE is a VERY COMMON SETTING. To hide so deeply and obscurely is just MEAN.
Be nice. Please.
(How often do I use Notepad++? Almost daily. Tabs usually have no bearing on what I do with it. If I know I’ll need tabs, I use Word.)

because different languages have different best practices.
While it seems convenient to have 8 spaces replacing a tab in javascript,
python prefers 4 and others only 2.
If you work with multiple languages and you want to have each language satisfied,
there is no other way to bind this setting to the language.

People that type such things should really stop and think first.
