Why is N++ opening in C:\Windows\System32
-
This pertains to N++ V7.7 64bit installed on 64bit Windows 10 computer.
In “Settings>Preferences” the “Default Directory” is set to “Remember last used directory”. However, when “File>Open” is selected it starts in “C:\Windows\System32”. It appears as though this only happens when N++ was launched by right clicking a file name in Windows Explorer.
It’s pretty hard to figure out why anyone would want it to start in …\System32. Is there a solution for this, pretty annoying, problem?

does not, anymore, happen to me but I remember that it occurred to me as well.
No idea what could have caused it, but it seems that you can reproduce it.
May I ask you to provide the debug-info from the ? menu, it is the last menu item. -
Debug Info follows:
**Notepad++ v7.7 (64-bit)
Build time : May 19 2019 - 13:05:35
Path : C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe
Admin mode : OFF
Local Conf mode : OFF
OS : Windows 10 (64-bit)
Plugins : ComparePlugin.dll DSpellCheck.dll mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll **I think I may have found a work around that relieves a good bit of the pain. This phenomenon seems to only occur when N++ is originally launched by right-click on Windows Explorer. If I launch N++ first, for example without any file specified, then when I subsequently right-click a file name this doesn’t happen.
