Notepad++ for Android
-
hello pro.
am software engineering begginner student so,I need notepad apk but I haven’t PC ,is there notepad apk for my phone (android version 4.1) please!!! -
@hailemariam-eyayu ,
Nothing has changed. There is no Android version of Notepad++. It is a Windows ONLY program, and not even sure if it would run on Windows phones, since that is a stripped down OS. That can be an exercise for you as you become a software engineer going past being a student. -
Hi Wilfred,
I have been using a version of notepad++ on my Android 8.1 phone for over 3 years now. It’s more than adequate for my needs, but if I ever need true notepad++ functionality, I simply Bluetooth/share a copy over to my laptop, perform the required processing, and Bluetooth/share it back to my phone.
I now have a new android 12 phone but I’m not able to find the product in the Google Play App Store.
However, if you paste the string it will probably take you to the page where the developers allow you to install directly from their side I’m not brave enough to do that if you are and please let me know how you get on and I might chance it myself many thanks bye for now

Continued…
(Don’t know what happened there.)
However, if you paste the following string “notepad++ version 2022030623r” into a browser, it will eventually get you to the page where the developers of the Android version will allow you to download and install directly from their Web site
Sadly, I’m not brave enough to do that. If you are, please let me know how you get on, and I might chance it myself one day.
Until then, I will keep using the version on my Android 8.1 phone.
Good luck and bye for now.
Cheers, Joe.

Hi Michael Lee (the name appeared when I typed in “michaellee8”, is it supposed to do that? ) ,
Just noticed your thread containing URL:
“https://github.com/vmihalachi/turbo-editor”Looks excellent. Many thanks 🙂

If you have/had an Android app that was calling itself “Notepad++”, it is not officially related to the official Windows Notepad++ application, and the Notepad++ developers had nothing to do with it. Notepad++ is a Windows-only application. Anything with the “Notepad++” name that runs on a different OS is either using a Windows emulator (like Wine for Linux and similar for Mac OS) or someone is just using the “Notepad++” name without permission (like a presumed Android app that you found).

That’s what it looks like. The baby chameleon logo is pretty cute, though.

Wow, that is blatant dishonesty. Zero stars and zero reviews should be a tipoff, but…
@donho should do what’s possible to get that removed from the android store. -
The link that @rdipardo provided does not appear to be pointing to the official Android (Google Play) store, but to one of the unofficial app repositories. So I don’t think it’s sufficient for Don to try to contact the Google Play store, because I don’t see it there when I search.

Thank you guys for your heads up and your suggestions.
It’s not the 1st time that Notepad++ logo and name are stolen by some Android software on Google play store.
I took a lot of time for such issue (reporting, writing to these Android software authors, etc), but such issue comes back over and over again. I realize there will be always shameless software authors, and finally I prefer to contribute my time to essential stuffs - coding and managing Notepad++ and its related projects.
OTOH, my effort against such scum is not enough. In order to keep a clean environment on Android or even on Internet, it needs the effort of Notepad++ users and community people. By taking your responsibility to report the illegit software, you preserve also a cleaner Internet for yourselves.

Hey Wilfred, it sounds like you’re in need of a reliable solution for editing databases on your Android device. While Notepad++ isn’t available for Android, there are alternative text editors and IDEs you can explore, such as Jota Text Editor or Turbo Editor, which offer similar functionality and customization options. These apps can help you efficiently process and customize your data without the hassle of intrusive ads. Give them a try and see which one best fits your needs. Happy editing!

This is likely a posting wanting upvotes in order to produce more blatant spam. Please don’t upvote it.

@Wilfred-Pontfoort Hi Wilfred, ik kan je in het Nederlands antwoorden, maar dat wordt een beetje moeilijk voor de andere gebruikers. So, I’ll reply in English. Maybe way overdue. Anyway, I bumped into the same question and on the internet, May 2024, the search results keep mentioning that Notepad++ is strictly Windows. And/or that an Android compatible API hasn’t been (officially) developed or released. Well, if you still haven’t found what you’re looking for 🎵 then I’ve got good music for you in 🎼C(++) - well, probably Java, and maybe Flutter. Just look at Apkpure and search for the .apk of Notepad++ (for Android, but Apkpure is for Android and a finger to Google Playstore). I hope, even after the “crazy years” (best is yet to come…) I’ve been able to help you out. Good luck! Het allerbeste!

Indeed. This discussion played out all pertinent information years ago. I am locking it, as it seems to be attracting AI-generated recommendations for other software, or attracting posts by people who write essentially the same stuff.
