You probably also want to remove the space before the vertical bar as well?

Try this:

Find what box: (?-s) \|.+
Replace with box: Make sure this box is EMPTY !
Wrap around checkbox: ticked
Search mode radiobutton: Regular expression
Press the Replace All button
