Notepad++ losing unsaved documents

Hello all,
It used to be that if Notepad++ was closed without saving new documents, that they would then show up again when you reopen Notepad++. I’m not sure when this stopped working, but it is annoying.
Is there a way to get this feature back?

Verify this setting is ticked:
But…there have been reports of catastrophic data loss from some users when running this way.
My advice is to always save (yourself) your documents to disk.
And to perform your own backups.

@Alan-Kilborn Hmmmm. So this setting wasn’t checked off, but that means that some update turned it off, which isn’t good.

Has anyone discovered why the backup hasn’t worked in the past? I would think that should be a priority to fix.

Maybe “some update” was pretty smart, protecting you from features currently in question. :-)
