      who is administering it?

      I presume it is @donho , author of Notepad++.
      I know there are some users with elevated forum powers.
      But I think a change of the sort under discussion would have to originate from Don.
      Could be wrong…

          @mr-brunes Just seeing this as a new member. There are some cool things about the layout and the preview window and such but I thought it was odd that I was not getting notification emails. Under settings it was set to None or local notification only and setting “When a new reply is posted in a topic you are watching” to “Notification & Email” nothing changes. Not the end of the world but odd.

            @tanquen ,

            The email notifications and the associated confirmation email seem to be hit-and-miss. Until last year, there were no email notifications, despite the feature having been listed in settings for all the time of this forum; then one day, they suddenly started working … somewhat. Unfortunately, I cannot give any advice to make it work better. The best thing to do is: when you are actively involved in a conversation here, come back at least once a day to the forum until the conversation has ended – that works even if you aren’t getting the email notifications.

              @peterjones I used the link with Google, maybe that no work? I also could not get the confirmation email when I joined the other say. It kept saying it sent one but I never got it and could not post until logging out and back in. Just now it stopped letting me post until I logged out and back in again. ???

                My google confirmation worked just fine.

                There is a 20minute timeout between posts until you have enough reputation in the forum (+2, IIRC). (That was a technique to avoid spammers creating accounts and then posting many spam messages all at once.) But I am surprised you found a way around the timeout… hopefully spammers won’t figure that one out, too.

                Since you’re not a spammer, I’ve given you two upvotes so the 20min threshold shouldn’t apply any more. (I think it’s about 40sec between posts after that).

                  @peterjones Ok, thanks. The little message just said you can’t post but not why.

                  No way to get it to do the confirmation email again? Without changing my email? :)

                    not that I know of. maybe change it to something fake and then change it back, but that won’t guarantee for you to get it. Like I said, the notification email seems to be hit-and-miss, which means we know of no way to guarantee it gets to you. Sorry.

                        Please note that the word “never” was written in 2020, when it never had previously worked. That feature was not enabled until 2021 – but since 2021, it has worked for some people with some email providers: for example, I have successfully had my confirmation email and can turn email notifications on and off with the expected results. The forum management is actively working on making it function more reliably when sending to other providers
