Hi Don Thanks so much for NP++ I am happy to see a community for users to share their thoughts and to contribute. Notepad ++ is I think the most used piece of software when I am on Windows®. I particularly love the search in all open documents function! That is such a time saver for an absent minded forgetful person like me and helps me to get more work done much faster.
I have used it since 2005 and it is the Best out there. I miss it when I am on Linux .
It does run on wine on Linux because I have tried it on a few computers.
I use Windows® often solely to be able to use NP ++! That’s the truth.
Also, with all the plugins available NP++ is a veritable “Swiss Army Knife” piece of software.
I look forward to reading posts on here and hopefully learning more. -

Okay so I’m here. I’ve been using N++ for several years, barely scratching it’s capabilities. I just bought a REXX programming manual because that’s the scripting language of my telnet client, and I need to learn it. And N++ will be there to witness all my ‘**programmer error’**s. Keep up the great work everybody!

Is there any need for the restriction that editing a post must be performed within 3 minutes of the original post? I mean if this is needed to avoid some sort of rogue activity, I concede it might be necessary, but otherwise it just means people can’t clean up their typos or have extra thoughts.

It was originally put in place due to a lot of spambots (which at least for the time being have gone away for the most part). Whether or not that 3 minute limit is still needed…I can’t say for sure.

Thanks Dail, I wonder if the time restriction could be lifted and then reimposed if needed in the future. I am used to other forums where posts can be edited without any time restriction - so I am used to tidying up messages after posting them.

this “not allowed to post for 1200 seconds” is too much of a problem.
And I don’t even know how to earn 2 reputation.
if a person has several issues and then he joins here to ask about them, why should he not be permitted?
we are not even allowed to reply to other persons’ posts for that duration.
Maybe, you can introduce moderation of new users posts to avoid spam, but this 1200 sec rule should be removed.

This “not allowed to post for 1200 seconds” is continuing to irritate me.
It has been some 2 weeks I have been here, I have posted 4-5 posts and comments.
Still I continue to get this error.
And your site designers don’t have courtesy to tell how to get that credit, and where to request for it.
Please remove this restriction for all users if you really want this community to be helpful.

I’m a newbie in the community. I use np++ some years and consider it a great product!
Like every sw, there are always some bugs, this is normal. But the community is active and update fast.
So, congratulations for the commitment and initiative in having created one of the best applications that I use a lot in my day to day.
