      Hi donho,
I use your program since many years, and notably to translate Warband mods and Bannerlord in French. To do that the function Find in Files is unvaluable, I use it very often to find in what files a certain text can be found when the text in game in not correct and I want to know where to go to fix it.

But sometimes I would only like to know how much occurences of a certain expression exist in all the files, without seing the very long list of lines being displayed at the bottom of the window. The function Count exists into Notepad++, but only into the Find tag, so only for one file.

I would like to know if it could be possible to place the Count function also into the Find in Files tag. Anyway the job is done because after a “Find All” operation, the count is displayed just above the sometimes thousand of lines displayed where the searched text is present.

Thanks for all your time dedicated to this program.

I think you answered your own question.
The functionality is there, just not in the form you’d like.
You can make a feature request by following info HERE but I wouldn’t hold out much hope that it would be implemented.

BTW donho isn’t going to see your message directly to him here.

On second thought, I suppose it isn’t too large of a burden to put the total count information into the Find window’s status bar, after the following operations are completed:

          • Find All in Current Document
          • Find All in All Opened Documents
          • Find in Files

Currently, there is no information put there after these types of searches finish.

I know the functionality is there and that the number of matches is displayed a the top of the result of the function Find all. It’s just that sometimes the only thing I need is the number of matches, and not to see displayed the very long list of lines that contain the text I search for. If I follow you, the Count function in the Find tag is useless, because the “Find all in Current Document” already gives the number of matches. But nevertheless the simple Count function is there, and I would like it is there too into the Find in Files tag.

Maybe Don ho shall never see this post, but if I’m right there is no other place where we could ask for a modification of Notepad++ elsewhere than here. If there is one, thanks to tell me where it is :)
