      Path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe

      Local Conf mode : OFF
      OS Name : Windows 10 Enterprise (64-bit)
      OS Version : 2004
      OS Build : 19041.508
      Current ANSI codepage : 1252
      Plugins : DSpellCheck.dll mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll NppExport.dll

      Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19041.508] (Windows 10 Pro, build 2004, 64bit)

      issue:
      Notepad++ > Settings > Preferences > Default Directory > Follow Current Document
      None of the settings will make Notepad++ directory follow the current document.
      Directory is always the last one used. Restarting Notepad++ has no effect.

        Apparently this setting is causing others before similar issues.

        I don’t have the answer but if you search through this forum using the 2 words Default directory you will find several posts. Hopefully one might help you.

          @woodrow-smith said in Default Directory Issue:

          Notepad++ > Settings > Preferences > Default Directory > Follow Current Document

          I’ve always found this choice to be the most reliable and (thus luckily) the one that makes the most sense to want to use.

          Maybe there is a “disconnect” about how you think this is supposed to work? Maybe walk us through an example? Otherwise, I think it is working fine for the vast majority of users, so I don’t think there’s anything else anyone can do to help.
