Np++ randomly freezing at startup
-
Sometimes when i open my Np++ the window shows up, and immediately stops responding. No matter how long i wait, it never fixes itself and i have to smash close to fc it. Afterwards it’s always fine, with nothing from my session lost, which leads to my second point.
This is not a new issue, it’s been happening for a few years now i think, but it was always rare enough to not bother me, about 1/20. But now i figured i should look into this. I don’t remember when it started happening, but it wasn’t always the case.
I’ve read that addons sometimes can cause stuff like this, although i haven’t found my exact issue.
My current addons list is as follows:

The only thing i can think being a bit atypical i have compared to the average Np++ install is that my config files are being saved/loaded in/from my dropbox folder, so i can get any changes on all my devices:

Any idea what may be causing it? Is there any .log file i can check and see what’s causing the hang?

Try to update the “DSpellCheck” plugin, and then disable all plugins at all.

Configuration files cannot be here!
These are the backups of your session files)).

@andrecool-68 Wait, cannot be “here” where, exactly? On dropbox? Just to be clear, it’s still a regular folder and path on my drive, and npp can access it just fine.
I’ve indeed updated my plugins right after i posted this (something i realised i haven’t done in a long time) and since then it hasn’t happened again, butt as i said, it doesn’t happen that often. Will return if it does happen again again, but let’s hope it was just an outdated plugin, albeit with a very strange way to manifest itself (by randomly freezing like that)…

I was experiencing this problem when I accidentally installed the 32-bit version instead of the 64-bit version. The 32-bit version has a bug that 1 out of 3 Npp startups result in freeze. I tested it on 4 computers.
