I’m using the muli-line mode to display my tabs (Preferences, General, Tab Bar, Multi-line). I noticed that text in the tab does not completely fill the space for each tab. In fact, sometimes, there is as much space left in the tab as there is text. Only 1/2 of the space is used. That space is being wasted and forces the editor to use 2 lines where one line would be needed. I would like to see the blank space following the file names to fixed so that there is no space after the last letter in the file name. Thanks.

Not entirely correct. As you add more tabs (files) Notepad++ recalculates the needed space and does shorten each tab (reduces the space) to fit the new file. Eventually when space is a bit tight it adds a further “tab line” and recalculates, spreading out the tabs so space increases again.

As it’s an automatic process I could care less about the space shown, I’d worry more about what I need to edit and how to do it. ;-)

I think that if you can show evidence that proves this, then people would be willing to listen. However, I’ve just always assumed that Notepad++ is doing the “smart thing” with tab spacing allocation and the number of tab rows it decides it needs.

@Alan-Kilborn Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll add a screen shot in a bit.
