    I tried to use the “Alternate icons” option in Settings > Preferences > General > Tab Bar with the new dark mode. When I enable this option, tab icons change to a check “✔” and turn to a pencil when the document was changed. All is okay at this time. Now, I relaunch Notepad++. Icons have disappeared. I need to switch again the option to restore icons. Another thing, if I quit the dark mode, icons switch to a floppy disk even if the “Alternate icons” is enabled. Again, I need to relaunch Notepad++ to restore them. Note there is no issue when the dark mode is disabled.

      @Kimpa-Tammas ,

      I can confirm: in v8.1.1, if I switch to Dark Mode and then switch to the Alternate Icons , an unedited file will have the checkmark icon, an edited will have the pencil. But if I exit Notepad++ and re-start, then the edited will still have the pencil, but the unedited/saved will not have any icon (not the checkmark, not the old save disk).

      Please read the instructions in the FAQ Desk: Feature Request and Bug Report for how to make a bug report that the developer will see.
