Adding a key to "Edit/Insert/Date Time (short)" using "Settings/Shortcut Mapper..."
-
Hello, dear Notepad++ Community!
I would like to be able to assign a key (especially F5) to the
“Edit/Insert/Date Time” command using “Settings/Shortcut Mapper…”.
I don’t want to install TextFX plugin to only insert date and time by a keyboard key.
Please, make this possible. -
So Notepad++ has become sort of a joke since it keeps losing developers that can code thoroughly when they add new features. Evidence:
-
The new Edit > Insert > Date time… is NOT assignable in the Shortcut Mapper with the introduction of these new commands (what???)
-
A workaround of trying to record a macro of one of these new commands (so that a keyboard combination can be assigned to the macro) results in bad juju; here I show the result from recording the macro (fine), and then playing it (really bad):
C’mon guys, when you add a new feature, support it fully.
Above comments are based upon functionality present in N++ 8.1.4.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. As with Alan, I have confirmed the behavior. I have pinged the developer in the 8.1.5 Release Candidate thread. Hopefully he will fix this oversight/bug before fully releasing v8.1.5.

C’mon guys, when you add a new feature, support it fully.This feature is coding by me and other devs.
Notepad++ devs (including me) code this project with their own time, to provide you a code editor with no charge. You can choose another editor if you’re not happy. Or you can do the PR to fix it instead of whining. We don’t ask your gratitude. Behave yourself as a civilized person here is the last thing you can do.
